Boxing: Cissokho enters the welterweight top 10 after Stanionis’s departure

The WBA welterweight ex-champion, Eimantas Stanionis, returned to the ring after being stopped by Jaron “Boots” Ennis, obtaining a unanimous decision victory over Jabulani Makhense.The fight was agreed to 10 rounds at an agreed weight of 150 pounds at the Zalgiris Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania.Stanionis dominated the fight in his return home, with scorecards of 100-90, 99-91 and 99-91 in his favor. The Lithuanian has been inactive for several years, this being his fourth fight since 2022.Stanionis is likely to pursue a world title in a new weight category, but his victory at a catchweight is not enough to position him in the super welterweight division.Following Stanionis’s move up from welterweight, he was removed from the 147-pound rankings. Souleymane Cissokho enters the rankings at number 10.Boxing division rankings highlight the best in the sport in each weight category. These rankings will be updated according to recent results and performances.Boxers who have announced their move to a different weight class will be ranked in that new division, if applicable, only after fighting in that class. Boxers who currently hold titles in two divisions may be ranked in both.Boxers who have not competed in the last 12 months, and who do not have a scheduled fight, will be removed from the rankings until they fight again. Any boxer who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer may re-enter the rankings after their next fight.
