19-year-old goalkeeper dies after collision in soccer match
The world of Spanish football is in mourning following the death of Raúl Ramírez, a 19-year-old goalkeeper, who suffered a head injury as a result of a collision with another player during a fifth division match.
The news was confirmed by football authorities in Spain this Monday. Ramirez was declared brain dead, and his family made the decision to donate his organs.
The incident occurred on Saturday during a match played in Revilla, which forced the game to be suspended. The goalkeeper was immediately hospitalized.
Ramírez suffered two cardiorespiratory arrests, one on the field and another in the ambulance, while being transported to the medical center.
As a sign of respect and homage, a minute of silence will be observed in the next round of matches.
