England Celebrates Victory in the Rugby World Cup: “Closure” for the Team

England coach John Mitchell has stated that his team’s victory in the Rugby World Cup is a “closure” for the team. The Red Roses defeated Canada 33-13 at Twickenham on Saturday, three years after their painful defeat in the 2022 final against New Zealand. However, England had no rival at home, achieving a resounding victory and securing their third world title. Mitchell, who was named World Coach of the Year after the final match, has yet to lose a game as coach of the Red Roses.

It’s a big thing. Being part of a World Cup-winning team is huge. Sometimes you look back and say ‘wow’, certain tournaments elude you.

Mitchell also added that it was necessary to achieve the closure of what they set out to do three years ago. “They [the team] are phenomenal,” he said.

Honestly, it’s incredible, it’s literally what dreams are made of. We’ve built something so special in the last few years. Today was about sticking to our process and believing in ourselves.
