Jaxson Dart: Dream Debut and Victory for the Giants
East Rutherford, N.J. – New York Giants’ young quarterback, Jaxson Dart, looked exhausted after the 21-18 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Dart, in his first NFL start, showed grit and determination, sealing the Giants’ first win of the season. The game, marked by intensity, included a touchdown both by pass and by Dart’s run. The rookie ran the ball on ten occasions, enduring hard hits and dealing with a slight hamstring injury. Despite this, head coach Brian Daboll was satisfied with his protégé’s performance.Dart completed 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards, one touchdown and 54 rushing yards with another score. He became the second player since 2000 to achieve a touchdown pass, one rushing and 50 rushing yards in his first start, emulating Tim Tebow in 2010. The victory held a special meaning for Dart, who played in front of his family. “Obviously, this experience was special, being the first,” stated the quarterback. The encounter marked a turning point for the Giants (1-3), after a complicated start to the season. Dart shared the emotion of the moment with offensive lineman Jon Runyan Jr. Coach Daboll, visibly excited, celebrated the victory with his young quarterback, highlighting the importance of the triumph. The pressure was on Daboll, who needed results after a difficult previous season. Dart, grateful for the trust placed in him, expressed his commitment to the coach: “Me and Dabs have a special relationship. He’s the one who believed in me from day one.” Dart proved his worth, taking hard hits to help his team. Daboll, in turn, gave him the confidence to throw on a crucial third-down play with just over two minutes remaining, which ended in a 10-yard connection with Theo Johnson. It wasn’t perfect, I didn’t expect it to be in this first game. But a tough opponent, a 3-0 team with a pretty good defense. I think he made good decisions, we ran the ball well, I think we controlled the game for the most part.

Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson praised Dart’s grit, highlighting his ability to generate plays with his feet and his energy. The Giants hope to maintain momentum in the next game, where Dart will seek his second start in New Orleans. That is a credit to two young players who play the game and have confidence in a critical moment to do what they talked about when studying the film. I have a lot of confidence in our rookie quarterback. But he’s a rookie quarterback, so there will be mistakes that will be made. We know that. There will be more next week, there were some this week. It’s not going to be perfect.
