Alcaraz Overcomes Injury and Advances in the Japan Open

TOKYO – World number one Carlos Alcaraz showed his resilience by recovering from an ankle injury to defeat Sebastian Baez in the second round of the Japan Open. The final score was 6-4, 6-2, securing his place in the next phase of the tournament. Alcaraz was overcome with worry when he suffered the injury in the first set, specifically in the game that tied the score at 2-2. Visibly affected, he grabbed his left ankle, generating uncertainty about his ability to continue in the match.

“When I supported my ankle, I got scared, because at first it didn’t feel good. I’m glad I was able to play good tennis after that and finish the match quite well. I will try to recover to do whatever is necessary to be ready for the next round”.
