Alex Condon Declares Eligibility for the 2025 NBA Draft
After winning the national championship, Florida sophomore Alex Condon has announced his intention to enter the 2025 NBA draft, while maintaining his NCAA eligibility.
This was a surreal season. There was a lot of depth on this team, and we all played unselfishly. Many guys stepped up in big moments. We had a great team, and that’s the reason we won the championship.

Condon, ranked as the number 29 prospect in the NBA draft projections, was named to the All-SEC third team after averaging 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 24.9 minutes per game.
The Australian player helped Florida achieve a 36-4 record, including 12 consecutive victories to secure the SEC tournament title and be crowned champions in San Antonio. He had a memorable performance in what could be the last game of his college career, recording 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in the victory over Houston, including a crucial play in the final seconds to secure the 65-63 victory.
That was an incredible play. Walt Clayton Jr. did a great job coming out on Emanuel Sharp to deny his 3-point shot. The whole stadium stopped because nobody knew what was going on. I saw a Houston player running to try to make a play to win, so I did what I know best. I dove on the floor and gave the ball to Walt until time ran out. It was all based on instincts.

Originally from Perth, Australia, Condon began playing organized basketball seriously at 16, before that, he preferred cricket, water polo and especially Australian football.
My parents put me in a lot of sports. That was good for developing my hand-eye coordination. Playing soccer helped me develop my toughness. I didn’t arrive in Florida with too many expectations. The coaching staff bet on me, and I wanted to reward them by playing the best I could. Coach Todd Golden gave me the opportunity to play as a rookie, which helped my transition to this year, where I played with more confidence and became an important part of the team.

Condon became a key player for Florida, excelling on offense with his playmaking ability, which allowed them to invert the offense and put several tall players on the court. His strong sense of the game, passing ability, and defensive intensity made him a fundamental player.
We play through the tall players in Florida. My job is to get the ball to our guards and then dominate the rebound. My defense is ready for the NBA. I already know how to switch screens and stay in front of the smaller guards, which is what you need to do in the NBA. I still have a lot of room for improvement, especially on offense. The next thing I need to work on is my shot. I shoot very well in practice, but I need to transfer it to the games. If I return to college, I will shoot with more confidence.

Condon has until May 28 to decide whether to withdraw his name from the draft. If he withdraws, he will return to Florida next season.
There’s no way I could go to another school. If I have confirmation from NBA teams that I’m in the 15-30 range, if something is guaranteed, I will consider keeping my name in. I have a great situation in Florida. It would have to be something very special, my family would have to agree that we can’t turn that down.
