Philadelphia Phillies Emerge as Favorites for the 2025 World Series
According to the latest projections from BetMGM, the Philadelphia Phillies have surpassed the Los Angeles Dodgers in betting for the 2025 World Series.
It’s the first time since the start of betting last October that a team other than the Dodgers leads the predictions. The Phillies now have odds of +425, implying a 19.05% probability of winning their first championship since 2008 and the third in franchise history.
At the start of betting in October 2024, the Phillies began with odds of +1100, placing them behind the Dodgers (+400) and the Yankees (+800) following the previous World Series. Their performance in the season has driven a steady improvement in the odds: from +1000 in June, to +900 in July, +800 in August, and +750 at the beginning of September. The Dodgers, Second in the Betting
The Dodgers, the current champions, remain the second team with the highest chances, with odds of +500, which is equivalent to a 16.67% probability of repeating the success. If they manage to win, they would be the first team to obtain consecutive titles since the Yankees (1998-2000).A More Open Competition
The betting market shows a more balanced competition than in recent years, with six teams with odds of +800 or better. In addition to the Phillies and Dodgers, the Mariners (+550), Brewers (+750), Yankees (+750) and Blue Jays (+800) stand out.
The last time there were so many teams with similar odds at the start of the postseason was in 2021, when the Atlanta Braves surprised everyone by winning the World Series, starting with odds of +1200.Other Teams with Aspirations
In the intermediate group are the Padres, Cubs, Red Sox, Tigers, and Mets, with odds between 13-1 and 25-1. The Guardians and Astros close the list as the least favored, with odds of 35-1.
With the playoffs about to begin, the Phillies, seeded No. 2 in the National League, could face the Dodgers (No. 3) in an anticipated Divisional Series that is already generating expectations among fans and bettors.
