Rafael Nadal Warns About Fake Videos with Artificial Intelligence

The legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal has issued a warning about the circulation of fake online videos that use his image and voice to offer financial advice. Nadal, now retired from professional tennis, emphasized that he has never endorsed this type of content or the messages it conveys.

I want to share this message of caution, something unusual on my social media, but necessary.

Through his LinkedIn account, Nadal explained that, along with his team, they detected fake videos generated with artificial intelligence that imitate his image and voice. In these videos, he is falsely attributed investment advice and financial proposals that are not of his authorship. Nadal described this situation as “misleading advertising, completely unrelated” to him. The tennis player highlighted the importance of society learning to differentiate between what is real and what is manipulated, and of promoting an ethical and responsible use of technology. Nadal acknowledged the potential of artificial intelligence for progress in areas such as education, medicine, sports, and communication, but warned about the risks of its misuse, including the creation of false content that can generate confusion and deception.
