Michael Kim Conquers the French Open with a Dramatic Finish
American golfer Michael Kim clinched victory at the French Open, sealing his triumph with a thrilling par putt from 15 feet on the final hole. This win marks his first worldwide title in seven years, leaving behind prominent figures like Brooks Koepka.
Kim, with an exceptional performance, completed the course with a score of 6 under par (65 strokes), finishing the week with an impressive total of 16 under par.The world number 64 player, Kim, achieved his last victory in 2018 at the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic, where he dominated with an eight-stroke difference. The competition was fierce, with Elvis Smylie of Australia and Ko Jeong-weon of France, both recording rounds of 65 strokes, tying for second place. Brooks Koepka, who started the final round tied for the lead, failed to maintain the pace, accumulating eight pars and a bogey on the second half of the course, relegating him to fourth position. The five-time major winner finished with a round of 68 strokes. Koepka’s last victory was in August 2024 on the LIV Golf circuit, at The Greenbrier in West Virginia. This was his third consecutive week on the European circuit, after failing to make the cut at the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Kim, who has become a popular figure on social media in recent years, made history by being the first American to win the French Open in 53 years, since Barry Jaeckel in 1972. Walter Hagen and Byron Nelson are other American players who have conquered this title.I went blank when that putt went in.
