Brooks Koepka Shoots Up at the French Open

PARIS – Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka birdied five straight holes on the back nine on Saturday, finishing with a round of 65, six-under par. This performance put him at the top of the French Open, seeking his first victory in over a year. Koepka shares the lead with Min Woo Lee, who recorded 68 strokes for a total of 11 under par, with a score of 202. Both lead by one stroke a group of three players, including Michael Kim. This is the third consecutive week that Koepka has competed on the European circuit, after not making the cut at the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Koepka’s last victory dates back to August 2024, in the LIV Golf League held in Greenbrier, West Virginia.

I feel like my game has been going in the right direction. The results haven’t materialized, but I feel closer. I am satisfied with the work done in the last few months, and I hope to have the opportunity to win tomorrow.

Koepka attributed his low score at the Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche Golf Club mainly to his good putting performance. He achieved eight birdies in the round, finishing with a bogey on the 18th hole, a par 3, after missing a six-foot putt. Lee, for his part, won the Houston Open this year, obtaining his first title on the PGA Tour, although he did not manage to advance beyond a week in the FedEx Cup playoffs. Guido Migliozzi of Italy (66) and Marcus Armitage of England (71) joined Kim in the group one stroke off the lead. Kim completed his round with 66 strokes.
