A.J. Terrell Misses Game Against Carolina Due to Injury
The Atlanta Falcons will be without their star cornerback, A.J. Terrell, for the game against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. The news comes after an injury suffered by Terrell in last Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Terrell retired from the game in the second quarter due to a hamstring injury and was unable to return to the field.
During the week, Terrell did not participate in training. Coach Raheem Morris initially labeled him as “week-to-week.” However, on Friday, Morris indicated that Terrell’s injury will not require several weeks of recovery, and he will be reevaluated next week.
It’s likely that Dee Alford, who played the nickel position last season, will take Terrell’s place. Mike Hughes will be on the other side, while rookie Billy Bowman Jr. will play in the slot.
Terrell, 26, signed a four-year, $81 million contract extension with the Falcons last year, making him one of the highest-paid players at his position.
In addition, coach Morris announced that kicker Parker Romo will be the starter on Sunday in Carolina, replacing Younghoe Koo, who was released on Friday. Romo had a perfect performance last week, making all five field goal attempts, after signing with Atlanta just five days earlier.
