Chris Duarte debuts with Unicaja de Málaga in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup
The Dominican basketball player Chris Duarte made his expected official debut with Unicaja de Málaga this Thursday, contributing five points in his team’s victory (61-73) against Alahli of Libya in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2025, held in Singapore.
Duarte, former NBA player, scored a two-point shot and a three-pointer in two attempts. In addition, he grabbed two defensive rebounds and dished out an assist, earning a rating of seven credits in his first game with the Andalusian team.
The match was highlighted by the performance of his compatriot Tyson Pérez, who led Unicaja with 16 points. Tyler Kalinoski and James Webb III also had outstanding performances, scoring 12 points each.
On the side of Alahli of Libya, the Cape Verdean Ivan Almeida was the most outstanding player with 21 points, followed by Ismael Romero, who contributed 20.
With this victory, Unicaja, the current champion of the Intercontinental Cup, will seek to secure its place in the final on Sunday in its next Group A match against Utsunomiya Brex of Japan.
The match was characterized by a start with low success percentages, but Unicaja managed to impose its rhythm in the second half thanks to its solid defense and greater rotation, thus ensuring a victory in the international tournament.
