Stacy Lewis Announces Her Retirement from the LPGA at the End of the Season

American golfer Stacy Lewis, a two-time major champion and former world number one, has announced that the 2024 season will be her last on the LPGA Tour. The 40-year-old athlete shared the news through a social media post, where she expressed her feelings about this decision.

“My body has told me it’s time. I never in a million years would have thought that this golf journey would continue in 2025, but the time has come to put away the clubs”.

Lewis’s career in professional golf is impressive. After a distinguished career at the University of Arkansas, she joined the LPGA Tour in 2009 and achieved 13 victories. Among them, the titles at the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2011 and the Women’s British Open 2013 stand out, both considered majors. Lewis was a two-time LPGA Player of the Year (2012 and 2014) and currently ranks 14th on the all-time money list, with over $14 million accumulated in 374 events. In addition, she participated in four Solheim Cup teams as a player and captained the team that defeated Europe in September 2024. “I have nurtured the LPGA Tour as if it were my own child and I am very proud of the progress we have made, but to my colleagues, we are not finished!” Lewis wrote. “I hope you all continue to push the tour and do everything you can to help on and off the field.”
