USA Hockey Defines Coaching Staff for 2026 Winter Olympics

USA Hockey has completed its coaching staff for the men’s team that will compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics. The official announcement, made on Wednesday, reveals the addition of John Hynes, David Quinn, and John Tortorella as assistant coaches, who will collaborate with head coach Mike Sullivan, previously appointed. In addition, Mike Buckley was confirmed as the goalkeeper coach, while Mike King and Madison Nikkel will serve as video coaches. The men’s tournament will begin on February 11, 2026 in Milan, Italy.

We are very fortunate to have a tremendous technical team. Everyone is extremely proud to represent our country and focused on our collective effort to bring home a gold medal for the United States.

Bill Guerin, General Manager of the men’s team
Sullivan, who coaches the New York Rangers, led Team USA in the recent 4 Nations Face-off in February, where the American team won the silver medal. Previously, Sullivan served as an assistant coach for the U.S. men’s Olympic team in 2006. This year, Sullivan will be in charge with the support of Hynes (head coach of the Minnesota Wild), Quinn (Sullivan’s assistant with the Rangers) and Tortorella, with vast experience as a head coach in the NHL, including his recent stint with the Philadelphia Flyers. It is important to note that this will be the first time in over a decade that NHL players will participate in the Olympics, as the league did not allow their participation in the 2018 and 2022 events.
