New England Revolution Sacks Caleb Porter

The New England Revolution has decided to dismiss its coach, Caleb Porter, this Monday. Assistant coach Pablo Moreira will take over the position on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2025 season. Porter, who was hired in December 2023, was at the helm of the team for two seasons, leaving a record of 17 wins, 35 losses, and 12 draws in the regular season.

I am very grateful to Caleb Porter for the energy, effort, and dedication he has brought to the Revolution over the past two years. I have the utmost respect for Caleb and all the tireless work he has invested in the club, and we wish him the best in the future.

Curt Onalfo, Sporting Director
With Porter at the helm, the team is on track to miss the postseason for the second consecutive year. Although they are not yet mathematically eliminated, they are 10 points behind the Chicago Fire, who currently occupy the ninth and final playoff spot, with four games remaining in the regular season. Porter arrived in New England after having won the MLS Cup twice, the first time with the Portland Timbers in 2015 and the second with the Columbus Crew in 2020. He also led the Crew to win the Campeones Cup title in 2021, defeating Cruz Azul 2-0. However, the coach also experienced significant ups and downs in the performance of his teams over the years. The Timbers failed to qualify for the postseason in two of the five seasons under his direction, while the Crew did not reach the playoffs in three of the four campaigns in which Porter was coach. Porter began his coaching career at the college level, leading the University of Akron from 2006 to 2012, where he won an NCAA title in 2010.
