Max Verstappen is preparing for his endurance racing debut this weekend.
The current Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, is set to debut in endurance racing this weekend at the iconic Nordschleife circuit.
Verstappen, who has expressed his interest in competing in other categories outside of F1, already had a test on the challenging Nordschleife circuit, known as “Green Hell”. This test was carried out under the pseudonym “Franz Hermann”, as part of his preparation for the race.
Your participation in the endurance race has been confirmed.
Verstappen achieved an unexpected victory at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, marking his third win of the season.
To be able to compete this weekend, Verstappen will have to pass an exam on Friday to obtain the necessary documentation.
If you pass the exam, you will be allowed to compete in a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS on Saturday.
His goal is to advance and compete in a Ferrari 296 GT3 from the Swiss team Emil Frey Racing at the end of the weekend, which could be possible if he receives special authorization.
Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko has pointed out that this endurance race is key to maintaining Verstappen’s motivation in the future.
Marko commented that Verstappen’s participation in the race was a major distraction to his well-being.
The Nordschleife circuit is recognized as one of the most dangerous in the world, and was the venue for the German Grand Prix in the past, also being the scene of Niki Lauda’s famous accident in 1976.
