Tarik Skubal Exits Game with Left Side Discomfort

Detroit Tigers’ star pitcher Tarik Skubal had to leave the game against the Miami Marlins in the fourth inning due to discomfort on his left side. The Marlins won with a score of 8-2. Skubal will undergo imaging tests to determine the severity of the injury. The player expressed uncertainty about whether the tests will be performed in Miami or if he will return to Detroit.

I understand there is some concern, but I have also seen our trainer do a lot of physical work. In that respect, I am optimistic. We will get more information, do some imaging tests, and see what’s there to calm the brain as well.

In his 3 1/2 innings pitched, Skubal threw 45 pitches, allowing four hits and four earned runs. He did not issue any walks and struck out two batters. After allowing a single by Heriberto Hernandez, Skubal retired Eric Wagaman with a fly ball to center field before leaving the game.

There are some pains that come and go when you’re playing. This one was new to me. And that’s what somehow made the decision for me.

Skubal immediately signaled to manager A.J. Hinch and the Tigers’ training staff.

We have to review it. We hope for the best.

The same day, Javier Baez also left the game after being hit by a pitch near his left eye in the second inning. Baez made contact with a 90 mph fastball thrown by Sandy Alcantara. The ball first hit the edge of his batting helmet before impacting near his eye. Baez was attended to by the Tigers’ training staff and, after recovering, left the game. Trey Sweeney completed the at-bat with a strikeout, credited to Baez. According to the Tigers, Baez has cleared concussion protocol and is under daily evaluation.
