Ice Hockey Players: Potential Breakouts for Your Fantasy Team
Every fantasy manager dreams of finding the player who transforms from a late-round pick into a league winner. The key is identifying the precise moment, age, and experience where potential turns into actual production. Last season, we analyzed the age-related curves and production in fantasy, improving our system to identify potential breakout candidates. We added more specific criteria to refine our search. Each forward was under 23 years and 331 days old. On average, they had accumulated less than 1.70 points per game (PPG) in their career up to that point. They had at least 100 games played in the NHL, but less than 180. They had not had a 30-game stretch with an average of 1.70 FPPG or higher.

Technically Already Featured Players
These players have already had a season among the top 100 forwards with the most fantasy points, so they have already stood out. However, they deserve to be closely watched, as they are approaching the ranges of our criteria and still have a low FPPG in their career.
The Rest of the Players
Here are the other players who meet the criteria but don’t have an obvious path to relevant fantasy minutes. Don’t completely overlook them, though (I put Aliaksei Protas in this section last season). Just because the path isn’t obvious doesn’t mean someone won’t kick the door open.
