Trump attends Yankees game in commemoration of 9/11
Former President Donald Trump attended the New York Yankees game on Thursday night, commemorating the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, after honoring the victims at the Pentagon during the day.
Trump was expected to visit the team’s locker room, which was facing the Detroit Tigers.
It’s something I’m excited to be a part of.

The presidential presence involved additional security measures, intensified after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.La seguridad en el Yankee Stadium se incrementó el jueves con la asistencia del expresidente Donald Trump para conmemorar el 24 aniversario de los ataques del 11 de septiembre.Since the attacks, the Yankees and their fans have commemorated September 11 by singing “God Bless America” during the seventh inning, in addition to the traditional “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, repeating the tradition on Thursday.
Even before Trump’s arrival, stadium security was strict, with metal detectors, Secret Service agents, and New York City police helicopters.
The stadium gates opened three hours before the first pitch, with long lines forming even before. The Yankees urged ticket holders to arrive early.
The Secret Service indicated that additional time would be needed and asked fans to consider leaving their bags at home to speed up the screening process.
Trump’s attendance at the US Open men’s final last weekend generated long security lines.
The Yankee Stadium authorities installed safety glass in a box on the upper level, above the Tigers’ dugout. The service level was also closed for additional security checks.
This is the eighth major sporting event Trump has attended since returning to the White House in January. He was previously at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, the Daytona 500, UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia, the FIFA Club World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and last weekend’s US Open match.
This visit marks the third time a sitting president has visited Yankee Stadium for a game, following George W. Bush in 2001 and Warren G. Harding in 1923.
On the Yankee Stadium screen, a large MLB logo was displayed over an American flag and a red, white, and blue ribbon with the inscription “September 11, 2001, We Shall Not Forget”.
The American flags and the flags of the 30 baseball teams surrounding the upper level of the stadium were placed at half-staff after Trump issued an executive order in honor of Kirk.
Trump, born in Queens, New York, “remains a New Yorker at heart,” according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
