Eagles Bolster Offense with Tank Bigsby Acquisition

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a strategic move, acquiring running back Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The transaction, announced Monday night, involves the Eagles giving up fifth and sixth-round draft picks in 2026. This is the fifth trade Philadelphia has made since mid-August, demonstrating a clear intention to strengthen its roster. The Eagles had four fifth-round picks in 2026 and, after the Bigsby deal, still have three. Bigsby, 24, accumulated 766 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. In addition, he averaged 32.5 yards per kick return. The Eagles’ management particularly values Bigsby’s potential as a returner. The team already has a solid running back position, led by Saquon Barkley and with the participation of AJ Dillon and Will Shipley. Barkley, NFL Offensive Player of the Year, had 84 total yards and a touchdown in the first game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys. Shipley and Dillon totaled 26 and 10 yards respectively, with three carries each. Bigsby was selected by the Jaguars in the third round of the 2023 draft, coming from Auburn. In 34 games with the Jaguars, he has accumulated 910 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. During the first half of training camp, Bigsby shared carries with Travis Etienne Jr. However, Etienne established himself as the primary running back at the end of training camp and ran for 143 yards on 16 carries in the Jaguars’ victory over Carolina in the season opener. The arrival of two new running backs in the April draft, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen Jr., made Bigsby expendable for Jacksonville. In the game against Carolina, Etienne, Bigsby, Tuten, and Allen were active. Bigsby, Tuten, and Allen combined for nine carries for 30 yards, with Bigsby contributing five carries for 12 yards.
