Matthew Stafford Reaches 60,000 Yards in the NFL
In an impressive milestone for his career, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford joined the exclusive club of quarterbacks with 60,000 passing yards in NFL history.
Stafford achieved this feat during Sunday’s matchup against the Houston Texans. The six-yard pass to his wide receiver, Puka Nacua, in the final quarter, was the one that allowed him to reach this historic mark.
With this achievement, Stafford becomes the tenth quarterback in league history to surpass 60,000 passing yards.
Stafford tied Matt Ryan as the second-fastest player to reach this milestone, both with 223 games. Only Drew Brees achieved this mark in less time, with 215 games.
Stafford joins legends like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Dan Marino, and Aaron Rodgers on this distinguished list.
Before joining the Rams, Stafford spent 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he accumulated 45,109 passing yards in the regular season. In 2021, the Rams acquired him and, in his first season in Los Angeles, he led the team to victory in Super Bowl LVI.
In addition, Stafford has started the season opener in all 17 seasons he’s been in the NFL, breaking John Elway’s record since 1950, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
The moment of achievement arrived with the Rams leading the score 14-9.
