Monza, Italy – Lando Norris led the second free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix, returning McLaren to the top of the timesheet.

The British driver set a time of 1m19s878, narrowly beating Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who finished second with a difference of only 0s083.

The surprise of the day was Carlos Sainz, driving the Williams, who positioned himself third, just 0s096 behind Norris.

Behind the first three, Oscar Piastri, also from McLaren, secured fourth place. Lewis Hamilton, who had dominated the first free practice session, finished in fifth position.

  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
  • Alex Albon (Williams)
  • Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber)
  • Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull)
  • George Russell (Mercedes)

These drivers completed the top 10 of a very competitive session.

Fernando Alonso, with Aston Martin, did not manage to stand out, finishing in 15th place.

Kimi Antonelli suffered an incident with his Mercedes, which caused a red flag and relegated him to 19th place.

Franco Colapinto, who returned to Alpine, finished in 20th position after facing problems with the power of his single-seater.

The track showed a notable improvement due to the F2 and F3 tests, allowing for faster times compared to the first session.

In the final stages of the session, the teams focused on long runs with full tanks, where Norris and Leclerc demonstrated consistent pace, lapping around 1m23.

With the classification ahead, McLaren and Ferrari are emerging as the main contenders, while Sainz’s performance with Williams promises to add excitement to the Italian Grand Prix.
