Sources close to the situation have revealed to Alofoke Deportes that Joseph Parker is in negotiations to face British heavyweight Fabio Wardley on October 25 in London. Parker, holder of the WBO interim title, was on the list to challenge undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. The WBO ordered Usyk to initiate talks with Parker and gave him 30 days to negotiate a fight after his victory over Daniel Dubois last month. However, due to an injury, Usyk received an extension from the governing body, with a new deadline set for the end of this month.

Parker hasn’t fought since his knockout victory over Martin Bakole in February. Wardley, from Ipswich, is the WBA interim champion and has a large following in the UK. Wardley is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Australian Justis Huni in June. Parker, although from New Zealand, also has a large following in the UK, where he has been based since he began training with Tyson Fury and coach Andy Lee.
