Edward Cabrera to the Injured List with Elbow Sprain
The Miami Marlins have placed right-handed pitcher Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list due to a right elbow sprain. The news was confirmed this Monday, raising concerns about the player’s condition.
It has not yet been specified when he began to feel discomfort in his elbow, nor has it been determined whether Cabrera will be able to return to play in the remainder of the season.
In his last start, on August 30, Cabrera pitched only four innings against the New York Mets, allowing six runs (five earned) and eight hits.
Cabrera was having a standout season in his fifth year with the Marlins, with an ERA of 3.57 and 140 strikeouts in 24 starts, the most of his career, and 128 2/3 innings pitched. His record is 7-7.
Simultaneously, the Marlins made moves on their roster, selecting catcher Brian Navarreto and right-handed pitcher Luarbert Arias from Triple-A Jacksonville, and calling up right-handed pitcher Michael Petersen.
In addition, right-handed pitchers Anthony Bender (right tibial stress reaction) and Tyler Zuber (right lat strain) were transferred to the 60-day injured list.
