Caitlin Clark: Ankle Injury and Uncertain Evolution

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark suffered a bone bruise in her left ankle during a practice earlier this month, according to sources familiar with the matter. Clark has been in the process of rehabilitation for her ankle, while also recovering from a right groin injury that has kept her off the court for more than a month in the WNBA season. The team announced on July 24 that there was no set timeline for Clark’s return.

Until she can participate in practices and they see her in practice, the situation remains the same.

Stephanie White, Indiana coach
A team spokesperson explained that there is no timetable or expected date for her return, so Caitlin will be given the time needed to ensure she returns fully healthy, something she is working hard to achieve every day. Clark has played in only 13 games this season, his last appearance was on July 15, after not missing a single game in his professional or college career before this year. Earlier in the summer, he was also out with a left quadriceps injury and a left groin injury. Clark has been limited to rehabilitation and individual work, with an emphasis on running the full court, and has not yet returned to training with the Fever. Indiana (19-16) has nine games remaining in the regular season as it looks to make the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Fever now have four fewer guards after losing Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham due to injuries that ended their seasons in the last two weeks. Clark, the first pick of the 2024 draft and a first-team All-WNBA selection in her rookie season, has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds this campaign.
