Caitlin Clark Suffers Ankle Injury: Return in Doubt?
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has suffered a bone contusion in her left ankle, according to sources close to her. This injury occurred during a training session earlier this month. Clark is currently undergoing rehabilitation, treating both the ankle injury and the right groin injury that has kept her off the court for more than a month in the WNBA season. The team announced on July 24 that there was no defined timeline for her return.A team spokesperson explained that there is no set timeframe for her return, so it cannot be determined if the bone contusion will affect her comeback. The main goal is to give Caitlin all the time she needs to ensure she returns completely healthy, something she is working hard on every day. Clark has only participated in 13 games this season, his last appearance was on July 15th. Before this year, he hadn’t missed a single game in his professional or college career. During the summer, Clark also suffered injuries to his left quadriceps and left groin. Currently, he is limited to rehabilitation and individual work, focusing on running the length of the court, and has not yet returned to training with the Fever. Indiana (19-16) has nine games remaining in the regular season, looking to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive year. The team is now facing a shortage of players at the point guard position following injuries to Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham, who ended the season. Clark, the first pick of the 2024 draft and chosen for the All-WNBA first team in her debut season, has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds this season. The hope is that Clark returns before the end of the regular season. Until she can participate in training and until she is seen in practice, the situation remains the same.
