John Wall Announces His Retirement from the NBA

The prominent player John Wall has decided to end his career in the NBA after 11 seasons. Wall, 34, developed most of his career with the Washington Wizards, the team that selected him as the first pick in the 2010 draft from Kentucky. The point guard, a five-time All-Star, concludes his time in the league with averages of 18.7 points and 8.9 assists per game.

Today, I leave the court, but I don’t walk away from the game. Basketball will always be in my life, and new opportunities arise. I feel that now is the time to confidently walk towards my next chapter.

John Wall
Wall shared these words through a social media post. The player also played for the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. In his most outstanding season, during the 2016-17 campaign, he averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists for the Wizards, which earned him a spot on the All-NBA Third Team. At his best, Wall was one of the fastest and most athletic point guards in the league, and he was the dunk champion in 2014. In addition, he proved to be an elite defender, being included in the All-Defensive second team in 2015. Injuries marked the second half of his career, preventing him from playing more than half of the matches in the last six seasons. In the last two years, he did not play any matches.
