Bryan Battle, former The Ultimate Fighter winner, is released by the UFC

The UFC has terminated Bryan Battle’s contract, former champion of the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter”, due to repeated weight issues.

Battle, 30, and originally from North Carolina, was scheduled to face Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC 319 last weekend in Chicago. However, the fight was canceled after Battle failed to make the 186-pound weight limit by four pounds.

This incident adds to his history of weight issues. Battle also exceeded the allowed weight for a 170-pound fight in December.

The UFC confirmed Battle’s release on Wednesday.

Battle was crowned middleweight tournament champion in season 29 of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2021 and amassed a 7-1 record in the UFC. In addition to his recent weight issues, he also exceeded the weight in a fight against Gabe Green in May 2023.
