National District Softball: 2nd Round Kicks Off with Intense Matches and Aspirations

Santo Domingo – The excitement of softball is at its peak with the development of the XXXV Rubén Pimentel League Tournament, organized by the National District Softball Association (Asadina). The competition, which brings together outstanding teams, has begun its decisive stage with intense confrontations in both divisions.

North Division Leaders

In the North Division, the teams Liga Naco, Los Mellos, Domingo Guzmán, la Casa del Colt, and Halcones del Evaristo lead their respective groups (A, B, C, D, and E). Los Búfalos, the winner between Luperón and Cementera, Saludables, San Francisco/Comercio en Marcha and los Picapiedras, occupy the second places. The tournament pays tribute to Jorge Rijo from the San Jerónimo league and Rafael Franjul from the Aborigen. The Confraternidad 2025 cup is the prize at stake, and 4Fans balls and Z-mil bats, distributed by JM. Álvarez, co-sponsor of the event, are used.

Upcoming Matches

The second round presents exciting duels: Picapiedras vs. Liga Naco; Los Mellos vs. Comercio en Marcha/San Francisco; Domingo Guzmán vs. Los Búfalos; Casa del Colt vs. the winner between Cementera/Luperón; and Halcones vs. Saludables. The president of Asadina, Apolinar Durán, explained that the winners of this series, played in sudden death, along with the best loser, will advance to a crossed semifinal (1-4 and 2-3). The two winning teams will compete for the Confraternidad Cup in a best-of-three final.

South Division Results

In the South Division, Los Restauradores defeated Los Aliados with a score of 16-12 in the first game of the second round, played at the Ministry of Defense stadium. Stanley Linares was the winning pitcher, while Edward Mateo took the loss.

In Moscoso Puello, San Francisco (La Liguita) dominated Casa del Colt in two games, securing their lead for the second round in the North Zone. In the first encounter, San Francisco won 19-2 by knockout, with Alfredo Ovalles as the winning pitcher and Eladio López in the loss. Francisco Pérez (home run and double), César Aybar and José Vásquez (home run and single), and Edison Emeterio (home run) stood out in the offense. In the second game, San Francisco won 9-3, with Tomás Berroa as the winning pitcher and Domingo Burgos in the loss. Starlin Marte shined with two home runs, Leonelthy Crisóstomo with a double and a single, and Jesús González, Francisco Pérez, and Erbin Peña with a home run each.

Games Scheduled for Today

The second day of the South Division is played today starting at 6:30 PM. At the Rafael Pichardo stadium (La Farándula), Adovenprofar A and B will face each other, followed by Guerreros del Mide vs. La Farándula-A. At the Rafael Vallejo stadium (Liga Centro), the home team will face the Parallel league, and Aborigen against SoftCodia. La Cementera and Pepe Lucas will define their classification in a sudden death game at 6:30 PM, whose winner will face San Francisco in the second round of the North Division. In the North Division, Picapiedras will play against Liga Naco at 6:30 PM, followed by Domingo Guzmán vs. Los Búfalos. At the Hoyo de Chulín/Puerto Isabela/Alfredo Tejada stadium, Los Mellos will face San Francisco, and Halcones will face Saludables. Apolinar Durán Brito, president of Asadina, detailed that the three winners of these matches will advance to the third round, along with the best loser, determined by the lowest average of runs allowed between runs scored. The winners of this round will join the best loser to compete in the semifinal series, and the winners of that phase will compete for the grand Confraternidad 2025 cup.
