Edgar Sosa Strengthens Rafael Barias for the TBS Distrito 2025
The renowned point guard Edgar Sosa joins the Club Doctor Rafael Barias for the 2025 season of the Superior Men’s Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS Distrito). The event is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15th.
At 37 years old, Sosa will debut in the main superior basketball tournament of the country with the team that will be directed by Yoel Feliz, who will seek the fifth crown for the club.
Sosa joins Barias after his participation with the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís in the National Basketball League (LNB), where they reached the semifinal stage.
During the regular season with the Indians, Sosa averaged 9.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game. He had a 41% field goal percentage and ranked third in three-pointers made (38) and eighth in assists (3.2) in 21 minutes per game.
Before playing with the Indians, Sosa was part of the Leones de Santo Domingo in the LNB in 2013.
The point guard, trained at the University of Louisville, where he averaged 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, has played in first division leagues in Italy, Germany, Spain, Israel, Egypt, Iran and Puerto Rico, among others. In 2015, he signed a contract with the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA, although he did not become part of the team.
Sosa, born in New York but with Dominican roots, has 15 years of experience in basketball.
The Barias team will be made up of international reinforcement Austin Trice, along with Bryan Ramírez Saviñón, Eusebio Suero, Dimas Carrasco, Kelvin Fulcar, Ángel Alfonseca, Willy Arias, Juan Bautista Araujo, Yeison Rivera and Luis López, among others.
The Rafael Barias Club has been tournament champion in the years 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2019.
