Frankie Edgar Comes Out of Retirement to Face Bare-Knuckle Boxing
UFC Hall of Famer Frankie Edgar is set to come out of retirement and participate in a bare-knuckle boxing match. It is expected that Edgar, 43 years old, will face another UFC veteran, Jimmie Rivera, at a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships event on October 4 in his home state of New Jersey. Conor McGregor, co-owner of BKFC, shared the news on his social media, following an initial report. Edgar’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, also confirmed the news.Edgar retired from MMA in 2022 with a final record of 24-11-1. The former lightweight champion is one of the most beloved figures in UFC history, recognized for his heart and willingness to take on bigger opponents at the peak of his career. He won the UFC 155-pound title as a clear underdog against BJ Penn in 2010. He continued to fight for the 145-pound title twice in 2013 and 2019, falling short against José Aldo and Max Holloway. Originally from Toms River, New Jersey, Edgar was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2024. The BKFC 82 event, which will take place at the Prudential Center, is headlined by two other UFC veterans, Mike Perry and Jeremy Stephens.I’m very excited to compete again, especially here in Jersey.
