Cowboys Concern: Jonathan Mingo Could Miss Several Weeks Due to Injury

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys are on alert after the possible injury of their wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, who suffered a mishap to his right knee during the third quarter of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, resulting in a 31-13 defeat.

The injury occurred after a 49-yard reception. Mingo tried to catch a pass near the end zone and fell awkwardly. He was immediately taken out of the game.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer reported that Mingo, along with other players, would undergo additional tests on Sunday. An MRI will determine the severity of the injury, but there is a possibility that Mingo will need several weeks of recovery, which could influence the team’s decisions for the 53-player roster formation at the start of the season.

Last year, the Cowboys acquired Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick from the Carolina Panthers. In eight games, Mingo managed five receptions for 46 yards.

Mingo had a productive preseason and showed flashes during training camp in Oxnard, California, where the Cowboys envisioned a role for him as the number 4 or 5 wide receiver, in addition to participating in special teams.

In 2021, former Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott played most of the season with a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament, but did not require surgery. Elliott played in every game that year, although he had to wear a brace that limited his explosiveness.

The possible absence of Mingo could favor opportunities for Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy in the roles behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and KaVontae Turpin.
