Raducanu advances in Cincinnati: Convincing victory and focuses on Sabalenka

Emma Raducanu advances to the third round of the Cincinnati Open after a convincing victory over Olga Danilovic. The British number one, in her first match after the incorporation of Francis Roig, former coach of Rafael Nadal, to her team, achieved a victory with a score of 6-3 and 6-2. Despite a start in which Raducanu lost her serve, the 2021 US Open champion responded with determination.

After several service breaks in the first six games, Raducanu came back from 30-0 to secure another game and go up 5-3. He scored seven consecutive points to get three set points, and converted the first with an ace. In the second set, Raducanu kept the pressure on her opponent, forcing errors and getting a break to go up 3-2.

Raducanu didn’t concede any more games, sealing a remarkable victory in one hour and 20 minutes. In the third round, she could face Aryna Sabalenka, world number one, repeating the match from Wimbledon last month. In other results, Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek advanced with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Anastasia Potapova. Madison Keys, Australian Open champion, saved two match points before defeating Eva Lys 1-6, 6-3, and 7-6 (1). In the ATP bracket, Jannik Sinner, in his first match after winning his first Wimbledon title, defeated Daniel Elahi Galan with a score of 6-1 and 6-1.
