Paula Badosa Withdraws from US Open Due to Injury

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa, who reached the top ten in the world, has withdrawn from the US Open. The decision was made due to a back injury that has kept her off the courts since her defeat in the first round of Wimbledon on June 30th.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced Badosa’s withdrawal and announced that Jil Teichmann will take her place in the tournament. Alizé Cornet, who had retired from tennis in 2024 but returned this year, is next on the list to enter the main draw at Flushing Meadows in case another player withdraws.

The US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, is scheduled to start the singles competition on August 24.

Badosa, 27 years old and originally from Spain, reached the number 2 position in the world ranking in 2022, the best of her career. Currently, she is in the number 12 position.

In January, he reached the semifinals of the Australian Open. His best performance at the US Open was reaching the quarterfinals last year.
