LIV Golf League Modifies Format for Team Championship
The LIV Golf League has announced significant changes to the format of its team championship, which will mark the close of the current season. These modifications will eliminate first-round exemptions for the highest-ranked teams and introduce a play-in game for the two teams with the lowest scores. The adjustments will be implemented at this season’s team championship, scheduled for August 22-24 at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, Michigan. The team that ranks 12th and 13th in the points standings, after the LIV Golf tournament in Westfield, Indiana, from August 15th to 17th, will face each other in the play-in match. The team that gets two points will win the match and advance to the quarterfinals. The losing team will be eliminated. Each golfer from the remaining 12 teams will compete in match play on Friday and Saturday, as well as in the stroke play final on Sunday.I think you’ll see some teams get eliminated that you might not expect.
