Ter Stegen willing to resolve dispute with Barcelona
FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has expressed his full willingness to resolve the dispute with the club, which resulted in the temporary loss of the captaincy. The announcement came after reports that the goalkeeper, recently operated on his back, refused to sign a consent form to share his medical data with LaLiga. Barcelona was considering taking legal action in response. The club could free up at least 50% of the player’s salary for registration purposes under LaLiga’s injury provision, a rule that applies if a player is out for at least four months. Although Barcelona believes that Ter Stegen will be out for at least four months, the goalkeeper stated that he expected to return to action in just three months. If Ter Stegen’s recovery time is longer than four months, Barcelona could terminate his contract and register other players. Ter Stegen also clarified that all the club’s incorporations and contract renewals were completed before his surgery. Therefore, at no point could I consider that my unfortunate circumstances with the new surgery I had to undergo would be necessary for the registration of other colleagues whom I respect very much and with whom I hope to share a locker room for many seasons. Barcelona has yet to register five players eight days before starting the defense of their LaLiga title against Mallorca.I am fully willing to collaborate with the Club’s management to resolve this matter and provide the requested authorization.
