LIV Golf League Modifies Format for Team Championship
The LIV Golf League has announced significant changes to the format of its season-ending team championship. These modifications seek to intensify the competition and add excitement to the tournament that will define the champion. The adjustments implemented for this season’s championship, which will be held from August 22nd to 24th at the Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, Michigan, include the elimination of direct passes to the second round for the top-ranked teams and the introduction of a play-in match for the two lowest-scoring teams. The Smith, Ripper GC team was the winner of the team title last year. The play-in match will pit the teams in 12th and 13th place in the points standings, following the LIV Golf tournament in Westfield, Indiana, which will be held from August 15 to 17. The team that scores two points will be the winner of the match and will advance to the quarterfinals, while the losing team will be eliminated. All golfers from the remaining 12 teams will compete in matches on Friday and Saturday, in addition to the stroke play final on Sunday.I think we’ll see some teams get eliminated that we might not expect.
