José Leclerc Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery
Athletics reliever José Leclerc, who was ruled out for the rest of the season on July 25, underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder, the club announced Wednesday.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas. The Athletics reported that Leclerc, who has been on the injured list since April 23, will remain in Dallas for his rehabilitation.
Leclerc, 31 years old, participated in 10 games for the Athletics this season, after signing a one-year, $10 million contract in January. He had an ERA of 6.00 with eight strikeouts in nine innings.
In his career, Leclerc has a record of 12-21 and 41 saves with an ERA of 3.34 in 369 1/3 innings in 360 games, with 481 strikeouts since debuting with the Texas Rangers in 2016. He was with the Rangers until the 2024 season.
