Alex Ovechkin Partners to Produce Audiovisual Content About His Career

The Washington Capitals star, Alex Ovechkin, has reached an agreement with a Russian technology company to develop a film, series, or documentary about his career in the NHL.

Yandex, along with its streaming platform Kinopoisk, announced this Tuesday the agreement that will mark a milestone in the player’s career.

Ovechkin, who broke Wayne Gretzky’s goal record last spring, has 897 goals and is preparing for the final season of his contract with the Capitals. The player, who will turn 40 next month, has granted the rights to adapt his career to Plus Studio, the production company of Yandex.

The Moscow native, who began his professional career in the Russian league, now known as the KHL, is expected to participate in commercials and act as an ambassador for Yandex as part of this agreement.

Ovechkin has played his entire career with Washington, since the Capitals selected him in the 2004 draft, debuting in 2005. He has been the face of the franchise, captain since January 2010 and MVP of the playoffs in 2018, leading the team to their first Stanley Cup championship.
