Enrico Cardile Joins Aston Martin as Technical Director
Aston Martin has officially confirmed the incorporation of Enrico Cardile as Technical Director of its Formula 1 team. Cardile, coming from Ferrari, joins the team after a waiting period and a resolution of disputes between both teams.
Cardile left his position as technical director at Ferrari in mid-2024 to join Aston Martin. However, negotiations about his start date were prolonged due to a conflict between the teams.
The arrival of Cardile is part of a series of important signings made by Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, with the aim of turning the team into a championship contender from 2026. These signings include figures such as Adrian Newey and Andy Cowell.
In a statement, the Italian team declared that the court determined that “their former employee was already violating the non-compete agreement with Ferrari, whose purpose was precisely to prevent other F1 teams from gaining an unjustified competitive advantage by hiring Cardile before allowed, causing irreparable damage to Ferrari.”Aston Martin has confirmed that Cardile has already begun to perform his new position.
In a statement, the team expressed its satisfaction at having found a solution that allows Cardile to move forward with the team. Cardile will lead the design and technical functions at the AMR Technology Campus.
The arrival of Cardile marks a significant milestone for Aston Martin as they approach the new era of F1, which will introduce new regulations and engines, promising a shift in the competitive order.
Stroll has described Newey, Cowell, and Cardile as a “formidable leadership team”.
Aston Martin’s investment also includes a new and modern F1 facility at a headquarters opposite the entrance to the Silverstone circuit, where the British Grand Prix is held.
The team will also enter the new regulatory cycle with an exclusive supply of Honda engines, after years of using Mercedes power units. Honda will end its partnership with Red Bull at the end of 2025.
