The Ferrari team boss, Fred Vasseur, has expressed his full understanding of Lewis Hamilton’s frustration after the Hungarian Grand Prix, where the seven-time world champion had a complicated weekend. After a disappointing qualifying, where Hamilton started from twelfth position, the driver stated he felt “useless” and went so far as to suggest that Ferrari “probably needs to change drivers,” while his teammate, Charles Leclerc, secured pole position. In Sunday’s race, Hamilton repeated the twelfth position, and declared that his feelings were the same as the day before.
When asked if it was necessary to motivate Hamilton during the summer break and improve his performance, Vasseur replied that such a conversation was not necessary.

Vasseur added that the reactions after the race or qualifying are usually harsh due to disappointment, but that everyone on the team is working in the same direction. The Ferrari boss insists that the difference between Leclerc and Hamilton was not as big as it seemed in qualifying, with Hamilton only 0.015 seconds away from advancing to the next phase. Vasseur believes Hamilton’s frustration stems from his high expectations to compete at the front. Vasseur concluded by stating that Hamilton’s demand is one of the reasons for his success, and that it is understandable that he feels frustrated when his teammate achieves pole position.Sometimes you make comments about what the driver says in the car, but if you put the microphone to other athletes in football, I’m not sure it’s much better.
