In an action-packed night at the National Bank Open tennis tournament, German Alexander Zverev, the number one seed, secured a crucial victory over Italian Matteo Arnaldi.
Zverev, currently in third place in the world ranking, won with partials of 6-7 (5), 6-3 and 6-2, demonstrating his skill on the hard court.
The German tennis player, who arrived at the tournament as the top seed due to the absence of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, will face Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina in the next round.
Cerundolo secured his pass after defeating his compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Casper Ruud of Norway, eighth seed, defeated Nuno Borges of Portugal with a score of 7-5, 6-4 and will face Karen Khachanov of Russia.
Khachanov defeated Emilio Nava from the United States.
