Sean Strickland Indefinitely Suspended After Altercation at MMA Event

UFC middleweight ex-champion Sean Strickland has been suspended from all competition following an incident at an MMA event held in Las Vegas last June.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission decided to indefinitely suspend Strickland, 34, due to his involvement in the altercation. It is common for the commission to suspend athletes or team members until an official sanction is determined at a disciplinary hearing. Strickland’s case was scheduled for the commission’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, but it was postponed to a later date.

The incident took place on June 29th at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. Strickland entered the cage after Miles Hunsinger, a fighter he trains, suffered a submission loss to Luis Hernandez.

After the victory, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which caused a reaction from Strickland and UFC fighter Chris Curtis as well. Videos captured the moment Strickland threw several punches at Hernandez.

It is very likely that the UFC will not announce any fight for Strickland until this matter is resolved. His last fight was in February, where he failed to regain the 185-pound championship against Dricus Du Plessis.
