Starling Thomas V Suffers ACL Injury, Leaves Cardinals Without a Key Piece
Glendale, Arizona – The Cardinals have suffered a hard blow. Cornerback Starling Thomas V has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, according to sources close to the team. The injury occurred during Friday’s practice, leaving the team with a significant loss. Faced with this situation, the Cardinals have taken immediate action. Thomas V has been placed on the injured reserve list, which means his season has come to an end. To cover this loss, the team has signed cornerback Steven Gilmore. Thomas V’s injury occurred during a training session, forcing him to be taken off the field on a stretcher. After the tests carried out, the severity of the injury was confirmed. The absence of Thomas V represents a loss of experience for the Cardinals’ young cornerback line. In the previous season, Thomas V started 15 of 17 games, allowing 32 receptions for 434 yards and three touchdowns. Despite the absence of Thomas V, the Cardinals have resources to deal with this situation. The team has reinforced its roster with players like Garrett Williams, who already participated as a nickelback last season and started in 11 games, and Max Melton, who debuted in the second half of last year and started in three games. Additionally, the team has two promising rookies: Will Johnson, selected in the second round, and Denzel Burke, chosen in the fifth round. Kei’Trel Clark and Elijah Jones are also on the team. Coach Jonathan Gannon has expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to adapt. “There has been great competition in that group. I like where the group is going. I think they are doing a good job and it’s only going to increase at this point,” Gannon said. “So, obviously, the trade opens up a spot because Star was going to be on this team. He has played very well for us, so we’ll have to develop our guys. The guys will have to step up.”We are very sorry about what happened with these players. Obviously, we have spoken with both. These guys go through a lot and give a lot, and it’s a difficult time, but they will do everything they can to come back and both will return at some point, and we will move forward.
