Alajuela, Costa Rica – The Dominican Republic’s U-21 women’s volleyball team secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Pan American Cup after a resounding 3-0 victory over Mexico at the Monserrat Sports Center. The final score was 25-18, 25-17, and 29-27, demonstrating the superiority of the Dominican team throughout the match. With this triumph, the Dominicans positioned themselves in second place in Group A, which gives them a place in the direct elimination phase. The Dominican team demonstrated a dominant offensive game, scoring a large number of points through effective attacks. The statistics reflected their dominance in spikes (42-25) and blocks (10-6), while both teams tied in serves with five aces each. The outstanding player of the match was Shantal Rivera, who led the Caribbean team with 21 points, thanks to 16 attacks, 2 blocks and 3 aces. The team captain, Victoria Firpo, also had an outstanding performance with 11 points, resulting from 7 attacks and 4 blocks.From Mexico, Mariana del Rocío Hernández was the top scorer with 9 points.
