Lottie Woad Leads the Women’s Scottish Open
English golfer Lottie Woad, in her professional debut, has taken the lead at the Women’s Scottish Open with an impressive round of 7 under par, achieving a two-stroke lead over Nelly Korda and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Woad, who recently earned her LPGA card after her outstanding performance at the Evian Championship, has demonstrated consistent performance. Her victory at the Irish Women’s Open and her third-place finish at the Evian Championship have provided her with the necessary experience to face this new challenge. Korda and Koerstz Madsen, both with a round of 66, remain close to Woad on the leaderboard. Korda, seeking her first victory of the season, made birdies on her last two holes. Woad, a former college golfer at Florida State, has a total of 12 under par after two days of play. She has shared a group with Korda and Charley Hull, on a course that has attracted a large number of spectators.
The absence of wind, which facilitated the game, allowed Woad to score four birdies in the second half of the course. Korda made a bogey on the 18th hole, but took advantage of the favorable conditions to stay in the final group. The golfer commented on the unusual weather conditions in Scotland.“I’ve played in seven majors, so I have all that experience, and obviously the LET events as well. So it wasn’t really new stuff, I guess. I knew how to deal with it.”

Sei Young Kim, with a round of 67, is three strokes behind the leader, followed by Hyo Joo Kim, four strokes behind.“Apparently, this is not the real Scottish weather. It’s quite mild, so I’ve heard that this is not the typical weather and course they usually play here. But overall, when you have good rounds, that’s always a step in the right direction. My main focus is this week. I’m trying to finish as best as I can”.
