Vasek Pospisil Announces Retirement from Professional Tennis
Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil, recognized for his doubles title at Wimbledon and his contribution to Canada’s victory in the Davis Cup, has announced his retirement from tennis. The news comes after a distinguished 18-year career on the professional circuit. Pospisil, 35, announced his decision through social media, expressing his enthusiasm to play one last time in front of his fans at the Toronto tournament next week.In addition to his success on the court, Pospisil has been an advocate for players on the professional circuits. Along with Novak Djokovic, he formed the Professional Tennis Players Association, which filed a class action lawsuit in a federal court in New York against some of the organizations that manage the sport. Regarding his sporting achievements, Pospisil was crowned Wimbledon doubles champion alongside Jack Sock in 2014. He was also a key member of the Canadian team that won the Davis Cup in 2022. Throughout his career, he reached number 4 in the doubles ranking and number 25 in singles. The Canadian Masters tournament, played on hard court, granted Pospisil a special invitation to participate.“Eighteen years of professional tennis. I’m looking forward to playing in front of you one last time in Toronto,” shared Pospisil.
