Brendan Rodgers Suffers Concussion and Broken Nose in Rehabilitation Game
The Houston Astros’ second baseman, Brendan Rodgers, suffered a concussion and a broken nose after colliding with a teammate during a minor league rehabilitation game, the team reported on Saturday.
Rodgers, 28, was playing in Friday night’s game with the Triple-A Sugar Land team, in the first game of his rehabilitation assignment, when the collision occurred in the third inning. He had been out of action since June 15 due to a strain in his left oblique.
The Astros indicated that Rodgers will undergo more evaluations in the coming days.
In the current season with Houston, Rodgers is batting .191 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 43 games. Selected third overall in the 2015 amateur draft by Colorado, he played for the Rockies from 2019 to 2024.
