Jesús Aracena Castillo dies after confrontation with DICRIM agents in Santiago
An intense police operation in the Cienfuegos sector, located in the Santiago Oeste municipal district, culminated in the death of Jesús Aracena Castillo, popularly known as “Bebeco”. The young man, approximately 25 years old and a native of San Francisco de Macorís, was being actively sought by authorities due to his alleged involvement in various criminal acts.
According to the preliminary report from the National Police, the incident took place on 4th Street in the aforementioned district, where investigators from the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) located the suspect. According to the official version, an exchange of gunfire occurred between Aracena Castillo and the acting officers during the procedure.
Transfer to the health center and police deployment
After being seriously wounded in the confrontation, the young man was assisted and rushed to the José de Jesús Jiménez Almonte Municipal Hospital, located in the Libertad neighborhood. Despite the medical staff’s efforts to save his life, Aracena Castillo passed away shortly after his admission to the healthcare center.
The authorities are keeping the investigation open to determine the precise circumstances in which this confrontation occurred and to establish the corresponding responsibilities following the deployment carried out in the area.
Following the incident, specialized units of the National Police were deployed to the sector to collect ballistic evidence and gather testimonies to clarify what happened. Community residents noted that the deceased was a recent figure in the area, as he had only been living there for a short time.
The National Police continues with the investigations to delve into the details of this case and confirm the illicit activities for which the individual was being pursued by the law enforcement agency.
