Mavericks Rule Out Cooper Flagg for the Rest of Summer League

The Dallas Mavericks have decided to do without Cooper Flagg for the remainder of the NBA Summer League, according to sources close to the team. This decision ends the star rookie’s participation in Las Vegas after only two games. The Mavs’ determination to remove Flagg from the competition comes after the player, selected in the first overall position, scored 31 points in Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs and Dylan Harper, the second draft pick. Flagg had an outstanding performance in Saturday’s game, making 10 of 21 field goals, a notable improvement from his debut in the summer league against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, where he scored only 10 points with 5 of 21 shots.

I think it’s a new environment, a new scenario. They want to see me be aggressive and do those kinds of things.

After Saturday’s 76-69 defeat to San Antonio, Flagg stated that he felt more comfortable in the game, managing to get to the free throw line and draw fouls, although he regretted the missed free throws. Mavericks summer league coach Josh Broghamer praised Flagg for his performance, highlighting his ability to “keep making the right plays” and his “off-ball” work during Saturday’s game.
